About the Workshop
All hail the whale! 🐋
For this special Whale Fest workshop, we'll be stitching a design inspired by one of Salt Lake City's most beloved neighborhood icons: the 9th & 9th Whale!
Your whale design will be pre-traced directly onto your fabric, so you can jump right into stitching. I'll guide you step by step through the embroidery stitches and techniques you'll need to bring your whale to life, making this workshop perfect for complete beginners.
Whether you've never picked up an embroidery needle before, you're looking for a creative afternoon with friends, or you're already a stitcher who just really loves the whale, this workshop is for you.
What You'll Learn
Together we'll cover:
Setting up an embroidery hoop
Beginner embroidery stitches
Tips for adding texture and dimension
Working with a pre-traced embroidery pattern
Removing your pattern lines with heat
Finishing your piece at home
My goal is to give you the confidence to continue stitching long after the workshop ends.
Your Ticket Includes
Embroidery hoop
Pre-traced fabric featuring the exclusive Whale design
DMC embroidery thread
Embroidery needles
Printed stitch guide
Everything you need to finish your project at home
At the end of the workshop, you'll pack everything up in a little organza project bag so you can easily keep stitching at home if you don't finish during class.
Additional Information & Policies
No experience required. Seriously, none! This workshop is designed for beginners, and I'll guide you every step of the way.
If you typically use reading glasses for close-up work, please bring them.
Feel free to arrive a few minutes early to get settled before we begin.
All ticket sales are final. If something unexpected comes up, please reach out. I always do my best to be accommodating whenever possible.
Come celebrate one of Salt Lake City's weirdest and most wonderful landmarks, learn a new skill, and stitch your very own little piece of 9th & 9th.
I can't wait to stitch with you!

Monthly Patterns on Patreon
-
We’re officially entering hoa hoa hoa season, so September’s Patreon theme could only be Twilight.
For the Illustrative Tier, we’re stitching an iconic locket with two versions to choose from: one with a J for Jacob and one with an E for Edward, because obviously you need to declare your allegiance.
And for the Lettering Tier? “Where the hell have you been, loca?” Because that scene has lived rent-free in my brain for far too long not to turn it into embroidery.
Team Edward, Team Jacob, Team Loca... there’s something for everyone this month.
-
Missed a pattern from earlier this year? I’ve got you covered.
Starting this year, 2026 patterns are available for purchase directly on my Patreon for anyone who may have joined late or missed a month. If there’s a design you loved but weren’t subscribed when it was released, you can now grab it here.
Patterns from previous years will still live on my website, but all 2026 monthly patterns will be available for purchase here on Patreon.
Shop the Patterns Here -
Patreon charges your membership on the 1st of each month for the tier you select.
Patterns are sent out monthly to patrons who are active members during that month, and each tier receives access only to the patterns released while they are subscribed. You don’t get access to previous month’s patterns without paying for them, sorry!
Patterns will be sent either on the last week of the month, or the first week of the following month.

Embark on a stitching journey with this striking pattern featuring the legendary Shards of Narsil from Lord of the Rings. With a mix of étoile, six-strand, and diamant threads, you’ll capture the gleam and texture of these iconic fragments, each stitch echoing the sword’s storied past. This design is perfect for fans of the epic tale and anyone who enjoys creating pieces with depth and detail.
Stitches used in this pattern are: back, straight, satin, lazy daisy, fly, and french knot.

Some quotes deserve to be whispered. This one deserves to be screamed.
Inspired by Princess Donut's line from Dungeon Crawler Carl, this pattern is packed with some of my favorite little nods to the Donut and her man servant, Carl. Donut's tiara, her sunglasses, bombs, a skull, and lots of sparkly details come together in a palette that's as dramatic as the Queen Anne Chonk herself.
